Cassius Words in Shakespeares Julius Caesar Essay -- Julius Caesar E
Cassius' Words in Shakespeare's Julius Caesar à à à à à In William Shakespeare's Julius Caesar, the importance of Cassius and Brutus' dialogues in Act 1, Scene 2, lines 135-78 to the play is that it enables Cassius to deceive Brutus to join the conspirators. Cassius' words in this passage show that he is a very cunning individual who persuades Brutus to join the conspirators to rid Rome of his so-called " tyranny." à Cassius' words expose his hypocritical nature during his conversation with Brutus. At one point, during the ceremony to offer Caesar the crown after his victory in battle, Brutus remarks, "I do fear the people choose Caesar for their king" (79). Cassius seizes that opportunity and convinces Brutus to join the conspirators. He claims Caesar was a tyrant: "He doth bestride the narrow world / like a Colossus and we petty men / walk under his huge legs and peep about / to find ourselves dishonorable graves" (135-38). à Not only does Cassius use Brutus' fears to influence him to join the conspirators, but also in line 162, Cassius hovers and p...

Mix-tape Phenomenon Essay example -- Music Arts Rap Papers
Mix-tape Phenomenon "This rap game, this rap game / I ain't sellin' my soul for this rap game..." - 50 Cent Just 20 years ago, hip-hop music was thought to be just a simple fad, passing its way through the mainstream of pop music leaving classic dance hall anthems like Kurtis Blow's "Basketball" and Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five's "White Lines (Don't Do It)" in its wake. But today, hip-hop is a worldwide phenomenon, marking its influence in the world of fashion design (Jay-Z's Roca-Wear and OutKast clothing lines), product marketing (McDonald's and Sprite), and even television shows and movies (Eminem's "8-Mile" and most recently, "Honey," starring Jessica Alba). Through the past two decades, hip-hop has proven the genre could stand the test of time, but lately, purists say hip-hop is on a steady decline, thanks in part to "bubble-gum rap" or "hip-pop" created by artists such as Ja Rule and Nelly. Hip-pop is when an artist focuses on making records that will be accepted in mainstream pop radio and gain massive air-play, but "sells-out" the artist's integrity. One way hip-hop is fi ghting back against the mainstream backlash is the emergence of mix-tapes, albums created by street DJ's featuring exclusive tracks, artist-to-artist disses, and occasionally, unofficial album releases. But before looking into what may be the future of hip-hop music, let's take a trip back in time to South Bronx, New York City, circa 1977. "Let's take it back to the concrete streets / Original beats with real, live emcee's / Playground tactics / No rabbit-in-a-hat tricks / Just that classic rappin' from Jurassic." - Jurassic 5 Hip-hop pioneer DJ Grand Wizard Theodore, then 17 years old, was practicing his craft as usual, when his moth... ...in a positive force in hip-hop music. And now that former street DJ's such as Kay Slay and Whoo Kid have released commercial mix-tape albums that, according to McDonald, have sold on par with huge holiday season releases from Jay-Z, Alicia Keys and the G-Unit, the door for other street DJ's looking to establish a name for themselves has swung wide open. "A lot of times, whether its medicine or mechanics, a lot of people spend their life putting something together and then address it to the public and then sometimes the public might say, "Nah," says Grandmaster Flash of the mix-tape's evolution. "But thank god this thing has continued to grow and may it continue to grow. May there be many Ron G's and many Clue's and many more Brucie B.'s. Let's keep this thing poppin'." Critical Analysis of Langston Hughesââ¬â¢ ââ¬ÅI, Tooââ¬Â Essay
Langston Hughes wrote the poem, ââ¬Å"I, Tooâ⬠in the midst of the Harlem Renaissance, a period of Black American history which brought to light unique views of the world through the eyes of a people who were often subjugated and downtrodden. Issues of racial prejudice were prevalent during the Harlem Renaissance and segregation a fact of life. In the poem, ââ¬Å"I,Too,â⬠Hughes brings attention to this subjugation by portraying the life of a black male servant. He puts forth his views of the treatment other people of his race have long had to endure through the masterful use of symbolism, irony and simple diction. There are many examples of symbolism in the poem, ââ¬Å"I, Tooâ⬠. America is used as a symbol to portray the concepts of equality, diversity, and perseverance. By reminding readers that the country allowed and condoned segregation of his race, Hughes points out that although this was a form subjugation, it could be overcome. Even though America was at fault, the country still provided opportunities for those who would dare to try harder, to grow stronger, to push past the embarrassment of being labeled differently. America could still hold hope for people of any race. As well, the use of the word ââ¬Å"Iâ⬠in both the poemââ¬â¢s title and throughout the verses, is a symbol. Hughes uses himself as the quintessential example of his Black American heritage in a way that provokes the reader to think about he, and his race, are perceived. In using the title, ââ¬Å"I, Tooâ⬠, Langston Hughes portrays himself as yet another symbol of a portion of the American population. Repetitive use of the word ââ¬Å"theyâ⬠refers to his employers, who are presumably White, and therefore symbolize the rest of American society (Hughes, in Madden, page #). Their treatment of him, such as making him eat in the kitchen, becomes the representation of the way Black Americans, in general, are treated. By using these personal terms, Hughes has managed to employ symbolism in a way that also connects him to others. Hughes also states ââ¬Å"I, too, sing Americaâ⬠and here he is using irony, as such a thing is not really possible. The irony is that he praises America and its values while at the same time drawing attention to the way he is seen as somehow inferior to others because of the color of his skin. The ending lines, which include the phrase ââ¬Å"theyââ¬â¢llâ⬠¦be ashamedâ⬠are also ironic (Hughes, in Madden, page #). The poem was written to highlight the fact that Black Americans have been treated as something to be ashamed of and Hughes denounces this fact, creating irony by stating the obvious. Read Also:à Critical Essay Topic Ideas This use of irony portrays Hughesââ¬â¢ condemnation of certain aspects of society. The easy diction of the poem belies its deeper meaning. Through the use of simple vocabulary and rather unusual syntax, Hughes delivers a powerful message in a manner that even a casual reader can understand. Short phrases easily roll of the tongue while breaking some of them up into odd lines makes the reader think about their meaning in a different, but directed, way. By adding breaks between such passages as ââ¬Å"tomorrowâ⬠and ââ¬Å"Iââ¬â¢ll be at the tableâ⬠, Hughes creatively draws attention to the fact that he, and his race, will be stronger, and richer, and more respected when the White people of America least expect it (Hughes, in Madden, page #). In this way, too, does Hughes bring the tense of the poem from present to future. Hughes is adept at using diction to define the tone and deepen the understanding of underlying themes in his poetry. Langston Hughesââ¬â¢ reputation as an important poet and author was based on works such as ââ¬Å"I, Tooâ⬠which state a profound issue in simple terms. By analyzing the usage of symbolism, irony, and the diction Hughes employs, the more important, underlying, concepts come to light. Hughes does this by reiterating the fundamental pride and love he retains for the country of America while subtly pointing out the way Black Americans are treated as hypocritical and unfair. America is a land founded on freedoms, and equality, diversity, and perseverance are the qualities which will allow all citizens, regardless of skin color, to reach their goals and realize their dreams.

One owner was able to add cruise control (an option not offered by Toyota) by wiring in a few switches in the carââ¬â¢s computer system. The founder of priusenvy. com worked out how to use the carââ¬â¢s dashboard display screen to show files from his laptop, play video games, and look at rear-view images from a video camera pointed out of the back of the car. One Austrian consumer installed a sniffer ââ¬â a device on the carââ¬â¢s computer network that monitors electronic messages. With the sniffer, he will be able to hook up add-ons such as a MiniDisc Player, an MP3 player, a laptop computer and a TV tuner. In the past, owners using mechanical skills customised cars with paint, lowered bodies, and souped-up engines. In the future, customisation may rely on being computer savvy. Even though the Internet was a major part of the Prius launch, Toyota does not sell the car from its website. Buyers go to prius. toyota. com online to pick a colour and decide whether they want a CD player and floor mats ââ¬â the only options available from Toyota. After that, the dealers get involved, but it takes specially trained salespeople to explain and promote the Prius. Consequently, only 75 per cent of Toyota dealers handle the car. Many of them are not happy about the need to train salespeople. And why should they be? Margins are higher on gas-guzzlers, which are also easier to sell. Given dealer reluctance and consumer resistance, why have Toyota and Honda spent so much on their hybrids? While part of the answer is government regulations, a bigger part of the answer is competition. All car manufacturers concede that they will eventually have to move to hybrids to raise petrol mileage and lower emissions, and all of them have plans to do so. Ford, for example, plans to introduce an Escape SUV that will get 17 km/litre. DaimlerChrysler says that 15 per cent of its sport-utility vehicles will be hybrids that will get 20 per cent better fuel efficiency than conventional vehicles. General Motors is betting on hybrid buses and trucks. Toyota hopes, however, that its early entry will be the basis for a system of hybrids from ultracompact ââ¬Ëminicarsââ¬â¢ to luxury saloons, sport-utility vehicles, and even commercial trucks. The mass market, however, values space, comfort, and power. Although hybrids may have space and comfort, power would appear to be more elusive. Without greater power, it will be interesting to see whether consumers, who like speed on those open autobahns and acceleration on alpine roads, will settle for a hybrid. Questions 1. What microenvironmental factors affect the introduction and sales of the Toyota Prius? How well has Toyota dealt with these factors? 2. Outline the major macroenvironmental factors ââ¬â demographic, economic, natural, technological, political, and cultural ââ¬â that have affected the introduction and sales of the Toyota Prius. How has Toyota dealt with each of these factors? 3. Evaluate Toyotaââ¬â¢s marketing strategy so far. What has Toyota done well? How might it improve its strategy.

Catcher in the Rye Essay
Is Holden Caufield, out of the novel catcher in the rye written by J. D. Salinger insane in a sane world or sane in an insane world? But really what defines sane and insane this is what will be brought to attention through out this essay. According to the dictionary definition insane is some one of a not sound mind, mentally damaged or deranged or utterly senseless. Other definitions state that insanity craziness or madness is a spectrum of behaviour characterised by certain abnormal mental or behavioural patterns. Insanity may manifest as violations of societal norms, including a person becoming a danger to them selves or others. Where as sanity is defined as free from mental damage derangement, having a sound and healthy mind mind, having or showing reason, sound judgment or good sense. But in my opinion insanity is just some one out side of the norm in societyââ¬â¢s narrow minded views. Some one who is differentiating in there points of view from what has be come the strait and normal. Society has drawn these box out lines of what is sane and in sane especially in the era that Holden grew up in. Holden is a basic young boy who differentiates from the norm a little in his characteristics, he is a little bit more head strong and aware of the realities of the world and portrayed society. Though he is generally of a rational sane mind at the beginning of the book there are a few occasions where the cracks start to show and you can catch glimpses of his ââ¬Å"insanityâ⬠can be seen such as when Stradlater takes Jane out one night on a date and Holden states that though he has a few blank patches of memory he can remember being by the window staring out at nothing consumed in worry and dark thoughts, when Stradlater returns that night Holden shows uncharacteristic anger and rage that he can not contain resulting in him hitting Stradlater in the side of the head and when Stradlater holds him down Holden screams vulgar profanities at him in a fit of rage.

Analyse the change process at the Lady Magazine from the period prior Essay
Analyse the change process at the Lady Magazine from the period prior to the appointment of Rachel Johnson as Editor to the pres - Essay Example SITUATION ANALYSIS In this advance and emerged era of globalization, The Lady Magazine was not enhancing its contents creatively that can hold the attention of the readers. It was continuously losing its market share for two decades and was standing on the dying market position with only a circulation of average 31,000 readerships with a segment of age group of 70 and above customers. The magazine never has changed its concept of designing the magazine and it had not made such innovative improvements that can lead them to the scale of prosperity. Ben is now the head of the five memberââ¬â¢s board which is consists of five family members. Ben did not have a publishing experience but he deeply realized that the lady magazine desperately needed a new concept and image. He introduced some changes when he became the head of the board, that includes adventure travel trips, full-color advertising and to consternation of some of the more seasoned staff members-a website. Nature of the cha nge The nature of the change was reactive because it was forced by the customer market demand and with the dying market share of lady magazine so it was pressurized by continuous decrease in the market share of lady and the loss of readership. ... She aimed to double the readership of the lady magazine with her ideas and editing skills along with the concept of a real successful woman. The level of change that has occurred at the Lady Magazine can be referred as Gamma. When an organization makes a paradigm shift, then the level of change is referred as Gamma (Burnes, 2004; By, 2005). The idea and concept has been changed and redefined in order attract higher readers, therefore such a change is being referred as Gamma. Stakeholders viewpoint When these changes occurred, it also captured the attention and interest of the present stakeholders along with attracting new investors as well, because it was a new idea of increasing the market share and generating a handsome profit with a good pace of success. So it holds the investors interest with the perspective of generating more profits with it. The investors always are attracted with new concepts and ideas that can generate handsome amount of money in a short time period (Cameron, & Green, 2012). So the new investors who were attracted by this idea have realized that with this changed idea, the lady magazine will be able to generate a handsome amount of profit for them. Besides investors, the other stakeholders of the magazine are also important (Cummings, and Worley, 2009). Other stakeholders were also excited such as distributors, employees, readers, potential readers, society, competitors, managers and other stakeholders (Martin, 2006). Therefore these changes would influence each of the stakeholders as the company plans to redefine itself (Balogun, and Hailey, 1999). Threats of competitors is always important to analyse (Daft, and Marcic, 2006) and this threat would have increased as with this new idea, the sales and

My relationship with airplane Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words
My relationship with airplane - Essay Example Therefore, such experiences ignited a passion in me to pursue a career in aviation and become a pilot. The great admiration i had as a child of being a pilot started building up my relationship with airplanes. Moreover, I used to design paper airplanes and read more about airplane most of my free time. I remember most times we could board a plane I was either having a book to read about planes or a drawing the plane I was in. This was one of the ways I used to understand and describe the plane. Sometimes, I would take a paper and make a plane out of the paper. Moreover, I would imagine I was the pilots of the pilot. Therefore, from books I had read, I had little understanding on the functionality and directives a pilot to the plane. I would fly the paper plane around and that increased my liking and understanding of planes. Some of the Saturdays, my parents used to take me to the airport and pay a fee me for me to seat at co-pilot seat in the small planes and watch the plane flown fo r few kilometres. Hence, sometimes I would sit at the pilot seat and learn the work of the pilot. Although, such moments made me excited as a child, I learnt that the moments were the source of my deeper likings for planes and pilot as a career. Consequently, I vividly remember the fateful day on April 2000 when my family board a plane to the United States, state of California for a holiday vacation. California was one of the cities in United States I desired to visit hence marked the most amazing period of my life. Firstly, the waiting room at the airport was one of the amazing places where you get to be smartly ushered in and out in an honourable manner. Before boarding the plane, I gluey stared at the plane at the airport as they land and some took off to the air. I remember at that moment, I had so many questions on the functionality of the plane. Therefore, I kept on pestering my parents to explain to me how the plane could remain floating in the air yet carry a lot of people a nd luggage. In most occasions, I would excitedly ask the waiter if he could allow me to go and help the pilot at the pilot cabin but the waiter could not accept. However, today I understand that the pilot cabin is an out of bounce zone for passenger and this rule ensures concentration of pilot to focus on the plane movement. My liking for planes propelled me to read articles and watch documentaries on airplane. I found out that there were several plane-manufacturing companies in the world. Moreover, I discovered the existing differences in most of the planes we boarded for vacations. For instance, I learnt that airplanes for personal use and trainings have a high or low wing depending on the place of attachment of the wing to the body. Biplane, retractable, floatplanes, seaplanes, twin engine and turboprop are some of the example of airplanes. Anderson andà Eberhardt explain that airplanes are in various sizes, shapes, and wings propelled forward by thrust and jet engines (80-150) . Therefore, the make-up of the airplane keeps the plane floating in the air. Wright brothersââ¬â¢ first airplane invented was heavier than air and this was the start of the invention of airplanes. The planes today come in various types but all of them base their functionality on aerodynamics principles. The determination of Wright brothers that man could also fly in the air has become part of my encouragement hence
